Most of the company is located in Denver, CO with about 15% of us remote.
What does your team do? What are you responsible for?
My team is Engineering and we are responsible for all things related to the website and API.
What are the components of a strong remote culture?
Strong remote cultures are good at asynchronous communication and enabling people to do their jobs without being blocked by others.
Great remote cultures are places where people feel like they are part of a team, not on a remote island. Feeling like a team can be accomplished with virtual events like coffee chats, virtual happy hours, or with awesome slack tools that promote engagement!

How do you make sure your team is happy and engaged in their work?
Frequent but not too frequent check-ins and a policy that āI care about what you get done, not how you do itā. Treat people like adults with trust and autonomy.

What's your biggest challenge as a remote leader?
Building a sense of presence and camaraderie is hard as a remote leader. It is a constant learning experience but worth it when it works!
