I work at Recharge where we power repeatable transactions and turn those transactions into relationships for the top ecommerce brands! I am the VP of Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and HR Ops.

What are the components of a strong remote culture?
Trust and transparency are the top two for me and what makes Recharge the best culture I have ever been part of. You have to trust that people are doing what they need to be doing while providing as much open and honest communication as possible.
Strong remote cultures are built on strong connections. Strong connections are built with Hailey.
How do you make sure your team is happy and engaged in their work?
Great leaders. Having people managers who are close to their teams even though they are a part physically. Without strong leaders I do not believe you can do anything systematically to make sure team members are happy and engaged.
We also create processes and systems that elevate our values - bi-weekly town halls with anonymous Q&A, Bonusly peer to peer recognition and investing in continuous feedback.

What's your biggest challenge as a remote leader?
Getting to know my team personally and having them understand my personality as well. I strongly believe that the key to remote is in-person, we invest heavily in in-person retreats to make sure that happens.
My RemoteĀ Manager Toolbox
Team-building Activities
Retreats! We do the occasional āhappy hourā and weekly trivia as a company but I do not like to add more zoom meetings to the calendar than needed.
Remote Games
Jackbox is my go to when the team wants to kick back and play some games.
Icebreakers
I like to talk about vacations and time off people are planning or have taken. I try to encourage downtime as much as possible and let my team know I am using it as well.

Resources for remote leaders
Honestly, talking to my network and mentors has always been my best resource.
